Release method
- Use a dated publisher page that explains or labels the benchmark.
- Record the age band and statistic exactly as published.
- Do not convert quote data into sold-price data or combine medians with means.
- Retain prior releases when the tracker is updated so direction can be shown consistently.
What an individual’s quote can still depend on
Age is only one input. Vehicle, postcode, driving history, occupation, use, mileage, excess, payment method, additional drivers and insurer appetite can materially change a quote. Market benchmarks should never be presented as an expected personal price.
Next scheduled release
The tracker is designed for quarterly publication. A later release should show like-for-like movement only where the same publisher, population and measure remain available.
